At only nineteen years old Taylor Swift, country music superstar, is continuing to shatter records. This week it is Billboard’s albums chart. “Taylor Swift,” her debut album, became this century’s longest charting album.
This week the self-titled debut of Swift will have spent 157 total weeks on the albums chart and becomes the album that has spent the most weeks on the Top 200 Billboard Albums. “All the Right Reasons,” the 2005 album from Nickelback, previously held the record at 156 weeks.
October 2006 was the release date of Swift’s debut album. To date it has sold more than 4 million copies. Her album “Fearless,” which was re-released last week as Platinum Edition and includes “Jump, Then Fall,” a new single as well as “Untouchable” has sold 4 million copies as well.
In addition, Swift will be joining a very short list of stars including Janet Jackson, Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears to perform as well as host “Saturday Night Live.” On November 7th, Swift will perform double duties and will become only the second woman country singer to do that since Dolly Parton did it more than twenty years ago.
